I’m Betsy Hernandez, a hairstylist, cosmetologist, and aesthetic nurse passionate about enhancing natural beauty and empowering others to feel their best.
Growing up, I was that friend who did everyone’s hair and makeup—from color to updos, I loved helping friends and family look and feel amazing. I always dreamed of being both a hairstylist and a nurse, two roles that combined my love for beauty with my drive to help others.
Behind "Begin"
The Story
Betsy began her career in cosmetology, building her expertise in the hair industry for more than a decade before taking on the challenge of nursing school to achieve her goal of becoming an Aesthetic Nurse. Balancing life as a mother of two young children and studying was no small feat, but with her husband’s support, Betsy persisted, eventually joining a medspa to hone her skills in advanced aesthetics. After two years of gaining hands-on experience, Betsy decided to combine her hair and medspa expertise, officially merging her salon into Begin SalonSpa in 2020.
The Story Behind "Begin"
The name “Begin” carries a meaningful story. In 2013, Betsy was navigating a period of personal transformation, having just become a mother and experiencing the need for a fresh start in her career. She took a leap, opening her own studio and embracing this new chapter in her life. Naming her business “Begin” symbolized that bold first step into the unknown, reflecting her belief in embracing change and growth. Now, Begin SalonSpa represents a space where clients can find their own new beginning, no matter where they are in life.
A Passion for Client Confidence
Betsy’s favorite part of her work is watching clients’ confidence blossom. Each session is a chance to support others in feeling beautiful inside and out, and she takes pride in crafting results that enhance natural beauty in subtle, meaningful ways.

With a focus on natural results, Betsy believes in a “less is more” approach.
